Government cuts hit at the heart of education

This country has always been based on ‘education for all’ whatever your background. With the news that the Government plans to cut the teaching budget for the country’s 208 universities and colleges from £7.1bn to £4.2bn by 2014 the ‘education for all’ phrase may be a thing of the past.

Combined with rising tuition fees these Government led changes will define our education system for generations of students and teachers. This may lead to only the better off families being able to afford an education for their children and the top performing teachers taking coveted positions.

It is vital that the Universities and Colleges have systems in place to help admin staff stay on top of student attendance and non-attendance. In particular those establishments that have International Students and are inspected by the UK Border Agency need to keep electronically stored information regarding student attendance records.

Our biometric student attendance monitoring system has been developed using knowledge from the major accreditation bodies and UKBA. This enables full compliance of the regulations that have evolved around the Tier 4 immigration policies.

Whatever happens during the lifetime of our Coalition Government we can be sure that the educational landscape in this country will change. Will that be for better or for worse?
