Employee's Poor Health Is Costing Business Almost £3 Billion Per Year

The survey undertaken by the Centre for Economics and Business Research focused on the reasons for absence from work and the behaviour patterns of employees both in their private life and at work.

Bupa, who commissioned the report, focus heavily of providing employers with advice on how to encourage their employees to lead a healthier life style away from work.

Vizual focus heavily on providing employers with advice and systems that encourage employees to lead a healthier life style at work.

The report states that just three in ten employees take a lunch hour, and the impact this is having could well be significant as almost half feel their productivity levels plummet in the afternoon around 3pm and as a result lose almost forty minutes of their day due to this dip.

Taking an entire hour for lunch can often be difficult however taking breaks at regular intervals throughout the day can help employees stay alert and focused.

By using an attendance management system employees are encouraged to clock on lunch and breaks throughout the day. Reports can be viewed in real time by line managers to ensure their employees are taking the necessary time in a day to recharge their batteries helping productivity levels to stay high.

Employees will also feel motivated as they feel their employer is ‘looking after their health’. A high motivation level leads to a healthier employee, higher productivity, high attendance and significant savings for the company.

Job Costing Systems - Costly or Cost Effective?

With the economy slowly improving in the UK many manufacturers and engineering firms are seeing growth but now face a highly competitive price led war to win new business contracts.

Therefore managing the costs of your business has become more relevant than ever when preparing a quote for a customer. Knowing the true cost of labour and materials for every individually element of a job process can help you to quote more accurately. At the same time you can see where improvements can be made across the company and act on them immediately.

An effective Job Costing System such as CaptureIT not only provides real time data and budget costs, it provides comprehensive budgetary management reports in both in time and cost with managers being notified automatically by email when a task goes over budget.

All jobs entered onto the system have the costs associated to them and an set time allocated for each individual element of that job. Employees can clock on and off an unlimited number of jobs and thus create an overall picture of the amount of time and money it took to produce your customers’ job.

The time each employee spends on each job or task is stored in the master job record and also against that employee on their daily work record. Employees are allocated a set hourly rate which is recorded against their jobs. There hours can then be transferred automatically to your payroll software which in turn drastically reduces manual input and human error.

The cost of installing a job costing system is easily off set against the improvements that will be made in streamlining every day jobs, recording accurate job data and automating the payroll process.
